Ed Benjamin
Senior Managing Director
Ed Benjamin is a 44 year veteran of the USA bicycle industry and founded eCE in 1996. He is regarded as an LEV industry expert and has extensive contacts in the electric bicycle and scooter industry, traveling more than 200 days per year to visit factories, retailers, distributors and consumers. Ed has extensive experience in product development and sourcing from China, Taiwan and Europe - working with electric vehicle OEMs, motor, battery and motor controller companies, as well as importers and distributors of small electric vehicles. Ed also participates as a speaker at international LEV related conferences in the EU, USA, and Asia.
Ed began his career in the industry as the owner of 4 retail bicycle shops in Florida. After falling in love with his first electric bike, he joined WaveCrest Labs as Vice President. Several years later, he became the General Manager of Tres Terra which was later sold to Ultra Motor where he took the role of Chief Operating Officer. Ed is a US citizen, holds a 1981 B.A. in Education from University of Kentucky and speaks English and Mandarin level 3.
He is also the Founder and Chairman of the Light Electric Vehicle Association (LEVA). LEVA represents the strategic interests of light electric vehicle retailers, dealers, distributors, manufacturers and suppliers to promote the development, sale, and use of LEVs worldwide. Members receive support and educational resources to expand their businesses while initiating efforts to influence and adopt legislation, regulation, performance standards, promotion and general best practices in the light electric vehicle industry.
